High Energy User - Power And Water Solution

Before we explore the solution, lets first take a look at why electricity is now costing so much.

Electricity is at an all-time high and companies that don’t pivot quickly enough, could be looking precariously towards a cost that they can no longer afford, this is where the power & Water Solution comes in.

So…why does electricity cost so much now, more importantly, what can be done about it?

There are many factors that contribute to the high cost of electricity, the most significant factor is the rising cost of fuel. Coal and natural gas prices have increased significantly in recent years due to both Brexit and the pandemic, but, possibly more so because of the war in Ukraine.

Another factor that contributes to higher electricity is the cost of environmental compliance. In order to meet national and county environmental regulations, utilities must make significant investments in pollution control equipment and other greener technologies. These costs are also passed on to consumers in the form of higher electricity.

Finally, electric utilities face significant infrastructure costs. In order to maintain and upgrade ageing power plants and transmission lines, utilities must make substantial investments. These infrastructure costs are also passed on to consumers through a higher per-unit price of electricity.

The cost of fuel is one of the biggest factors in the rising cost of electricity. The price of coal, natural gas, and oil has tripled in the last decade, while the price of renewable Water Solution energy sources like wind and solar has fallen. This means that power plants are increasingly turning to more expensive fuels to generate electricity, which raises the price of electricity for consumers.

Maintenance

The cost to maintain the UK’s ageing grid infrastructure is rising year on year. When you’re continually repairing something that is already worn and tired, you’re basically throwing good money after bad. The already-dated national grid, in reality, needs to be knocked down and started again. Of course, this is not possible, with the cost to replace damaged lines, transformers etc having to be scheduled. Such planning and scheduling again come with many costs!

Environmental

Government policies include the Renewables Obligation, which requires energy suppliers to source a certain proportion of their electricity from renewable sources, and the Energy Company Obligation, which provides funding for energy efficiency measures such as insulation. Funding the end user has to pay for.

In summary – The energy industry is being squeezed and the consumers both residential and commercial are having to foot the bill. It doesn’t matter which side of the carbon brigade you’re on, with predicted prices only expected to increase further, companies that don’t make that pivot into a cheaper way to power their businesses are playing an electricity version of Russian roulette!

Of course, pivoting to renewable energy would normally be subject to a heavy upfront expenditure; an expenditure that most companies can ill afford.

Larger facilities such as hospitals, hotels and laundries also rely on large quantities of hot Water Solution. Hot Water Solution, which is dependent on inefficient gas/oil boilers or more of the same, the grids expensive electricity.

At The Power Hub we’re always looking for a lower costs energy solution for businesses.

If you’re a high-energy user of both hot Water Solution and electricity, this integrated renewable solution is for you.
